What is the Civic Examination?

The Civic Examination is an official assessment of knowledge of French values, rights and duties. It is aimed at foreign nationals wishing to obtain:

A multi-year residence card
A long-stay residence card
French nationality

The examination becomes progressively mandatory from 1 January 2026, as part of many long-stay residence and naturalisation applications.

The Interior Ministry has entrusted CCI Paris Île-de-France | Le français des affaires with deploying this exam across a network of accredited centres throughout France. ABC Formation is part of this official network.

Examination format

The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions across 5 major themes, completed on computer. Each question has only one correct answer.

Registration confirmation

Once your registration is confirmed, our centre sends you all practical details by email: date, time, exact address, specific instructions.

Prepare

Good preparation significantly increases your chances of success. Start early — 15 minutes a day for several weeks. Use reliable sources and vary your study materials: texts, videos, quizzes, themed sheets.

Take the test & obtain the certificate

The test takes place on computer at our accredited centre. The official certificate is issued once your results are validated.
