Training content & objectives

The DDS (Decoding the Silences) programme aims to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment for non-reader, non-writer adult newcomers, enabling them to develop fundamental language skills and participate fully in their new host society.

The 10 objectives of the DDS programme

📚 Acquisition of Basic Skills

Facilitate the acquisition of essential reading and writing skills to enable adult migrants to communicate effectively in their daily environment.

🗣️ Linguistic Autonomy

Build participants' confidence and linguistic autonomy by enabling them to read and write simple texts, facilitating their integration into society.

🤝 Social Participation

Promote active participation of adult migrants in the social, cultural and economic life of their host community by improving their ability to understand written information.

🎓 Access to Education

Create opportunities to access education, professional training and other programmes by developing reading and writing skills.

💪 Building Self-Esteem

Contribute to building self-esteem by providing the tools needed to express and communicate effectively, with a positive impact on well-being and social integration.

🌍 Promotion of Cultural Diversity

Value and celebrate the cultural diversity of participants by encouraging the exchange and sharing of their experiences and stories through literacy.

🏘️ Community Engagement

Encourage adult migrants to become active and engaged members of their community by developing language skills to participate in civic, cultural and social activities.

🤲 Interpersonal Support

Foster the creation of support networks among participants by encouraging collaboration and mutual support in their reading and writing learning.

🔢 Basic Numeracy

Acquire basic mathematical skills (counting, simple addition and subtraction) and their application in everyday situations.

💻 Digital Literacy

Acquire basic digital skills: text input, use of everyday digital tools to promote digital inclusion and access to online services.

Facilitate the social integration of adult migrants by helping them overcome language barriers and communicate more effectively with those around them.

Provide the opportunity to explore creativity, express themselves artistically and broaden their horizons through literacy.
